Motor Accident Claim -- Involvement of Vehicle in Chain of Events -- Not sufficient by itself to fix liability on owner
Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, S.166 -- Motor Accident Claim -- Involvement of Vehicle in Chain of Events -- Liability of owner or insurer to compensate arises only where a clear proximate relationship is shown between use of the vehicle and death of the victim. Mere presence of a vehicle somewhere in the sequence of events leading to death, without proof of a causal link, does not attract liability under the Act.
