Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, S.173 -- Investigation -- Accused Called to Police Station Without Concrete Evidence -- An investigating officer cannot keep a criminal investigation pending indefinitely and must submit a charge-sheet or final report under S.173 CrPC within a reasonable time -- An accused person cannot be called to the police station and compelled to sit there from morning to evening in the absence of concrete evidence -- Such conduct amounts to unnecessary harassment and is not permissible in law.
