Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, S.19 -- Contempt of Court -- Order Closing Contempt Proceedings -- An appeal lies as of right only against an order or decision passed in exercise of jurisdiction to punish for contempt. The statutory right of appeal does not extend to an order that merely drops, closes, or exonerates a party from contempt proceedings, since such an order does not amount to exercise of jurisdiction to punish. A closure order recording compliance without imposing punishment falls outside the scope of appeal under Section 19.
